YouTube Videos Cover Dynamic Content or Dropdown Menu When Embedded In Website

by on June 6, 2013

Basically, what is happening is the plugin just “hovers” over the page content, you have to force it to be transparent where appropriate, since the “overlay” of a menu or other dynamic content is really just the plugin making that section of itself transparent so the web content can show through – this gives the appearance of a menu overlaying the content, for example, which is what we are going for.

When selecting the embed code, check off “Use Old Embed Code”

Just add these two pieces to the YouTube “old” code:

Note: this is to apply the fix for different browser, IE and everyone else ^_^

<param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param>

wmode="transparent"

So a sample may look like this:

<object width="350" height="197"> <param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param> <param name="movie" value=http://www.youtube.com/blah></param> <param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param> <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param> &lt;embed src=http://www.youtube.com/blah” type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="350" height="197" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" wmode="transparent" >&lt;/embed> </object>
