Set An Application Pool to Run In 32 Bit Mode in IIS 7

by on October 28, 2010

So I ran across an issue with a Dynamic Forms not being able to function properly in IIS 7 / 64 bit. Forms crashed the app pool when clicking on “Update Settings” and took 30 seconds for a simple five field form to load.

Instead of buying a new version of the module, this quick fix allowed the module to run without the upgrade (though we will eventually need the upgrade!).

  1. Open IIS 7 on the server
  2. Expand the server listing > click on Application Pools
  3. Click on the site’s application pool to select it
  4. In the right hand column, click on Edit Application Pool > Advanced Settings…
  5. In the popup, go to General> Enable 32 bit Applications > change to “True
  6. click ok
  7. In the right hand column, click on Application Pool Tasks > Recycle (or you can stop and start the app pool, if you prefer)

I have found this solved my issue with the legacy version of this particular module, but I am sure this can have many other uses!
