by on July 15, 2010

Go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Open Hosts in notepad

at the bottom of the file, add a record like “IP_Number    Domain”

Ex:

192.168.xxx.xxx        mytest.domain.com    #here is some commented out text

or

192.168.xxx.xxx       domain.com   #you can use this to describe or hide an entry, etc.

To find out what your IP is:

  1. Start
  2. Run
  3. Type in “cmd”
  4. At the command prompt, type in “ipconfig”
  5. You should see your IP Address number
